Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

If you are in the Glenwood Springs, Colorado area, plan to visit Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.  

To start your adventures take a 4,300 foot ride up the mountain in a fully enclosed gondola. The gondolas give you a 360 degree view of the canyon area and comfortably seats 6 people.

At the top of the mountain are a wide variety of activities. The main activity and highlight of the park is the cave tours.  There are three different cave tours to choose from.  The walking tour, the adventure tour and the wild tour. The adventure tour is 90 minutes of crawling through the caves with a guide.  The wild tour is 3 hours of crawling through the inner most parts of the caves. Reservations are required for this tour.  

The walking tour is great for families. You get to see Glenwood Caverns and Fairy Caverns.   This tour take little over an hour.  The cave walkways are well-lit and there are handrails along the path. No food or liquids are allowed in the caves. If you are tall be prepared to do a bit of bending over in a few spots.  The passage ways are also narrow at times.   Bring a camera because the views inside the caves are amazing.  

About halfway through the tour you come out on what is called Exclamation Point.  It is a breathtaking balcony overlooking the canyon and the Colorado River.  From this point you can also watch people on the Swing Shot ride.

Visitors to the caves are asked not to touch anything but be prepared to get "kissed" by the water drops falling from the ceiling and ledges.

The parks also has 3 thrill rides--canyon flyer, swing shot and bungee trampoline.

The canyon flyer is a go-cart style coaster. Rides ride down the mountain in an individual cart through trees and rocks. This ride has a height restriction. Kids can ride with a parent.

If heights and flying are your thing, try the swing shot.  The ride swings you 1,300 feet over the canyon. The swing can go 50 miles an hour and will hold up to 4 riders.  This ride has a height restriction.

Finally there is the bungee trampoline. This ride allows you to not only jump like on a regular trampoline but it has bungee cords so you can jump even  higher.  There is a weight restriction for this ride.

Glenwood Caverns offers a day filled with family fun.  Sunscreen for the outdoor activities is highly recommended due to the high altitude.  If you plan to tour the caves, a light sweater is a good idea.  Tickets for the gondola ride and other activities are purchased at the base of the mountain.  Tickets for the cave tours and rides can be purchased at the gift shop.
