Surviving Bedrest During Pregnancy
66
Being on bedrest for week and even months at a time can be boring-- even a bit overwhelming. There are quite a few things a mom-to-be can do to pass the time waiting for the bedrest restriction to be lifted or for the baby to be born.
Write
The mom-to-be can start a blog. A blog is a great way to get in touch with other ladies in the same sitation. It is also a fun way to let family and friends know how you are doing. Start a journal. Write notes to your baby about being pregnant and your hopes and dreams for them. You could also write for a place like Hubpages-- make a little bit of money and keep your brain active.
Create
Being on bedrest is a wonderful time to learn to knit or crochet. You can make blankets and clothing for the baby. Making your own homemade cards is fun as well...why not make your own baby announcement. If fine sewing is something you enjoy, cross-stich a sampler or picture for your baby's room.
Play
Have a family member or friend put a tv in the room where you will be spending most of your bedrest then you can play video games. If you have a laptop, relax with a few online games. Another great way to keep your brain active is to do puzzle books-- crosswords, search a word. You can also watch all those movies you have wanted to see... mega movie marathon.
Read
Use the down time to read lots of books. Read outloud to your unborn baby... they will love to hear your voice. Read to learn a new skill, to study a different culture or find out the latest in in parenting.
Rest
Take lots of long naps. This may be the last time you get uniterrupted sleep for a long time.
Be good to yourself and enjoy your pregnancy.
